It is August 24th and kids are starting to go back to school.
Now if you are a seasoned parent you know that with all these kids getting back together, the “crud” is going to go through the school and not only are your kids going to be getting sick, but odds are that you are going to get sick with the crud as well.
It happens every year.
So knowing that it will happen, why not take action and instead of treating a sickness, work on preventing the sickness in the first place.
WELL… knowing that, I was at the local Wally World and I have been noticing that cold, flu and pain meds are not as stocked as years prior. I have to admit that I did not think much of it, that is till I went to another store and noticed the same thing.
You know what? While I was at that other store, I checked the medicine isle and yep, cold, flu and pain relievers were also in short supply on the shelves at that store too.
Just for the heck of it while driving on my way home I stopped by the local CVS store and checked the cold and flu isle and sure enough, the shelves were not as stocked as last year.
I am not saying that there was nothing on the shelves, but variety was pretty slim and there was a lot of empty spaces on the shelves.
Here is another observation, the generic brands were pretty picked over vs the name brands. A lot of times I will pick up generic because it is less expensive. But the generics were pretty lacking and not even stocked on the shelves.
This really got me thinking and I wanted to put it out there to all of you.
The point I am making?
We know that cold and flu season is coming, this is a fact. So, instead of competing with the masses, I think it would be a really good idea to start stocking up on these items now before the crud, cold and flu season really hits with a vengeance.
Fall Has Started Early and Winter WILL Be Harsh
Listen, there are a lot of reports coming in that we are looking at a very early fall. I know that here in Virginia that we have already started to see the leaves start to turn and temperatures are a lot lower than normal. We started noticing this around August 15 when temps should have been at their highest.
But they weren’t.
Just the other day I got up in the morning and it was 58 degrees outside. We are talking about the middle of August here folks.
But here is a major point that I want to make…
WE ARE GOING TO HAVE A VERY HARSH, SEVERE WINTER.
There are many indicators pointing to this fact. The Farmer’s Almanac came out August 15 and it too is predicting a server, harsh winter for much of the nation this winter.
I was watching one of my favorite You Tube preppers, Appalachia’s Homestead with Patara and she had a pretty incredible video she shared with her viewers. She showed how her persimmon tree seeds were showing a harsh winter for this year. Now this is Appalachia Folklore, but she has been tracking persimmon seed forecasts for several years and every year when she cracked open the seed, and saw what the seed was forecasting, it happened.
Just so you know, I like watching her videos because we live pretty much in the same temperate zone and what she is growing and doing we are doing here as well.
Take a few moments and watch her video, it is REALLY interesting.
Winter Produce Coming In Early
While flipping through my Instagram feed I found another video where the gentleman was showing that his pumpkins were turning orange really early. In the video he shares that the date is August 5 and he is in growing zone 6b. He is walking through his garden and he is questioning why his pumpkins are turning orange now vs more in October when they normally come to fruition. Several other people in the feed were also commenting on their pumpkins and other produce as well. Almost all the comments were talking about how their veggies and such were coming in early too.
Check the video out here on Instagram – https://www.instagram.com/p/Cg44w4lu7jj/
I share this because more and more signs are pointing to a really harsh winter. This will affect livestock, which are already struggling as well as fall produces which may not even come to harvest like late season corn, winter wheat and so forth.
I am pointing this out because we are already in food supply shortages and with a severe winter, it can give another whammy to the farmers and ranchers of the nation.
WHICH… down the road will mean even more food shortages in the grocery stores.
Folks, if you read my last article, you know that we are seeing a perfect storm brewing
I Lived The 2009 Swine Flu Pandemic
In 2009 when I lived in Texas it was ground zero and in the middle of the H1N1 Swine flu mini pandemic. The city literally shut down, schools closed and businesses closed their doors.
I recognized the possibility of pandemic and I felt like I was a little bit behind the 8-ball. So jumped in the car to search out my regular cold and flu meds and was amazed at how hard it was to find because I was competing with all the other masses rushing out and getting all the cold and flu meds as well.
Needless to say, I got these items as fast as I could and the moment anyone even sniffed they instantly got dosed up.
DISCLAIMER – I am not a doctor or anything like that. I am just a author, blogger and internet influencer. So, when it comes to medical advise, talk you your local physician.
BUT, I know what works for me and my family, so I thought I would share what works for us.
The following items listed below helped me and my family during the pandemic we experienced in 2009 with the H1N1 Swine Flu.
Sambucol (black elderberry) – https://amzn.to/3wpD6rK
Colloidal Silver – https://amzn.to/3dS9mO1
Echinacea – https://amzn.to/3RbbkaJ
Propolis – https://amzn.to/3cnN9Xz
Ginger Root – https://amzn.to/3TfH14c
Vitamin C – Rosehips – https://amzn.to/3ws4rcT
Activated Charcoal – https://amzn.to/3AIj2n6
Here is what I took and the dosages that I use for me and my family…
- A shot glass of Sambucol (it comes with its own little glass)
- 3-4 sprays of Silver Sol Colloidal silver spray
- 2 caps Echinacea (400 – 500 mg ea)
- 2 caps propolis (1000 mg ea)
- 2 caps ginger root (500 mg ea)
- 2 caps rose hip / vitamin C (500mg ea)
- 1 cap charcoal (280 mg)
To this day if any of us in the Mhor family are feeling some sort of bug (cold / flu like symptoms) coming on, we instantly dose up on all of these so that it raises our immune system. All of these items help boost the immune system and increase antibodies.
Over The Counter Medicines You Need To Keep On Hand
Any medicines that fight the flu will also become harder and harder to find as well as any supplies associated to the cold and flu. With what seems to be an ever slow supply chain issue, getting these items could be even harder, depending on where you live.
Because the flu is an immunosuppressive disease, the following OCT medicines will also become harder and harder to find.
Medicines like …
Bayer Aspirin – https://amzn.to/3KoGbyk
Extra Strength Tylenol – https://amzn.to/3pGRRmk
Children’s Tylenol – https://amzn.to/3ASNL17
Boiron Oscillococcinum – https://amzn.to/3AIkfLa
Zicam Cold Remedy Zinc Rapidmelts – https://amzn.to/3Ctai5K

Vicks Nyquil Cold & Flu Nighttime – https://amzn.to/3AmDfgS

Benadryl 25mg capsules – 1 tablet every 4 hours as needed for nasal congestion, allergy, or itching if applicable – https://amzn.to/3R8Z4am
Other things I noticed when living through the H1N1 pandemic that were also VERY HARD TO FIND were the following…
Medical Treatment Tools
Electronic Ear Thermometer – NO ORAL – https://amzn.to/3PFl8IM
Automatic Blood Pressure Monitor – https://amzn.to/3QNLiKM
Stethoscope – https://amzn.to/3Ct9vS3

Purell Hand Sanitizer with Aloe 8oz – https://amzn.to/3RbcoLL
Notebook for recording vital signs & keeping patient notes
Conclusion
You do not want to get caught behind the 8-ball and be forced to compete with the masses when the cold and flu season is coming. Like I said, the store shelves are lacking out there.
Do me a favor and if you are seeing this as well, please comment and let me know what you are seeing in your area. Is it just my area that is lacking OTC meds? I am not sure and this is where having good folks like you help with your local intel so that we can get a clearer picture.
The key is being prepared. Everyone can remember recently with COVID and all the medical shortages that caused. It was crazy out there.
Take the time to plan ahead like we have so that you can keep you and your family safe. You know that cold, flu and crud season is right around the corner. So why not stock up now while you still can and while the supplies are some what still on the shelves.
Because if this lack of OTC Meds continue, we might not see as many on the shelves. And, if we are able to find OTC meds on the shelves the will be marked at a much higher price. It is the simple rule of supply and demand and the haves vs the have nots.
