What would happen if we things went south with China?

Can it happen? Most likely yes.

In fact, Dan Crenshaw, US Congressman from Texas came out and said that an “when things escalate with China, which is seemingly inevitable at this point.” You can watch his comments here on Instagram talking about TicTok, which is a red Chinse-controlled app.

This really got me thinking about what will the US do if they can no longer get their cheap Chinese stuff from Walmart, Dollar Tree, and the like?

Recently I spoke at The Mountain Readiness Expo in North Carolina, and I posed this same question to folks in my class and those who came to visit my table.

Interestingly enough they acknowledged the situation, but no one had an answer.

I mean here are a number of preppers at this event and they did not have a solution.

Here is the deal, whenever I ask a question like this, I try to have an answer.

See, this is something that my wife and I have already been working on implementing in our lives and in our home.

What can we do to lessen our dependency on Walmart and the other big box stores?

Some folks said that they would just buy American brands, but here is an interesting fact.

The consumer goods market is a 600-billion-dollar market nationwide.

Do you know that when you really delve deep into these companies where we get most of our toothpaste, cleaning goods, and body goods are controlled by just 11 massively big companies?

Now… here is the next question. Where do you think these massive companies get all their raw materials to create most of these consumer goods?

Yep, you guessed it… China or other BRICS countries. (but that is a whole other article for later.)

So even if you are thinking you are buying American, you really are not. Just about all your consumer goods are made in the US with Chinese-made raw materials.

Are you starting to get the big picture that I am trying to paint for you?

Now to top that all off, have you looked at the ingredients that they are using in your toothpaste, make-up, dish soap, creams, and conditioners? Half of the words you cannot even pronounce and to think that you are exposing your body to all this stuff.

Again, I posed a lot of these questions to all these preppers that I was meeting at this event.

No one had a solid answer.

If you are reading this, odds are you are a prepper, homesteader, concerned citizen, etc.

Cynthia and I have been working on alleviating this issue because we are reading the writing on the wall, and we are doing something about it.

We are working at buying…

Locally made / make our own.

Locally grown / grow our own.

Family-owned.

And getting as many toxins out of our home as we possibly can.

In fact, Cynthia has done a great job of completely transitioning and not using any more products that are made in China or things made here that have toxic chemicals and I am about 85% there as well.

We are preparing ourselves so that if and when things go down with China, we will not feel the effects as much as the average American family.

What does this mean?

It means that when the masses wake up and realize that they can’t get their big box store stuff, or they are paying a massively huge price for those things, we will see riots explode in the isles of Walmart. Remember the TP fights at Walmart?

Folks, if you really look at what you use in your home, which another name for it is Consumer Goods, you will be amazed at how many are made in China or the raw materials come from China. Not to mention the toxins that they are adding to all these things.

If you truly are a prepper and you are looking at what the future holds… REALISTICALLY as history has shown in the past. If the supply chains suddenly dried up and I mean really dried up where you can not get stuff anymore because it is made or sourced from China, where would you get all your daily consumer goods?

Now I know some of you are saying “Well I will just make what I need.” OK… some of you have those skills, but realistically most people don’t, and most people do not have the supplies to make their own.

Cynthia and I are laying the groundwork so that our lives will not have such a massive disruption. Even in the great depression folks still needed to brush their teeth, wash their bodies, do the laundry, and keep a clean home, there was no getting around that.

So, have you taken this into account and what are you realistically doing about it NOW?

We have, we are, and we are really doing it and you know what? It really has not been a hassle.

All we have done is change a bit of our mindset and really changed a lot of our buying decisions.

Think about this and think how you will handle it. Otherwise you will be behind the 8-ball and running with the mobs trying to get what ever you can.
